Job Description:
The PTT (Portfolio & Trade lifecycle Technologies) team is looking for an experienced Python Developer with a background in the energy trading sector. As an external consultant, you will develop, maintain, and operate custom software solutions for different risk and valuation processes. You will collaborate closely with other developers and stakeholders, understand the business needs and requirements, build robust software, test thoroughly, document software and processes, and contribute to the successful delivery.
Team:
You will be part of the Paradox team. The Paradox team is responsible for risk and quant related processes in the intraday and EOD ETRM domain. The key responsibilities of the Paradox team:
- EOD Valuation of internal orders and structured trades
- Decomposition of shape trades (procurement requests) with the evolio system
- calculate and create orders to track the demand variation risk
Project scope:
Develop our custom valuation suite and enable it to support new products, including:
- OTC Options and VPPs
- Gas Swings
Ensure a robust daily valuation process, validated the results, and deliver comprehensive data for reporting
Anforderungen
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with development teams and tech Architects and PMs to ideate software solutions
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Write clean, scalable, and efficient code.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with the team.
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Write technical documentation
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Python with FastApi, FastStream, and computation libs.
- Knowledge of SQL and Snowflake.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes & Docker, Kafka, Git
- Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of the energy trading sector and risk management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using business analysis software and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps).
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Start date: 5th January 2026
Location: Primarily remote, with on-site presence required approximately 5% of the time in Essen (Germany) or at another office.
